Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Tulum largely depends on your preferences for weather, budget, events and crowd levels. Also, it depends on your personal preferences and what you want to experience during your trip. Here's a breakdown of the different seasons:

Dry Season (November–April): This is the best time to visit Tulum, with warm temperatures, little rain, and clear turquoise waters, making it perfect for beach days, cenote swimming, and exploring Mayan ruins. However, this is also peak tourist season, with crowded beaches, higher hotel prices, and busy attractions, especially around Christmas, New Year’s, and spring break (March–April).

Wet Season (May–October): Tulum experiences higher humidity, frequent rain showers, and a risk of hurricanes, especially from August to October. Despite this, it’s a great time for budget travelers, as hotel prices drop significantly, and there are fewer tourists. The lush landscapes and quieter atmosphere make it ideal for a relaxing getaway, except during July and August, when family travel increases.
