Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Costa Rica largely depends on your preferences for weather, budget, events and crowd levels. Also, it depends on your personal preferences and what you want to experience during your trip. Here's a breakdown of the different seasons:

Dry Season (December–April): This is the best time to visit Costa Rica, with sunny skies, warm temperatures, and little rain, making it ideal for beaches, national parks, and wildlife spotting. However, this is also peak tourist season, with crowded resorts and higher prices, especially during Christmas, New Year’s, and Easter (Semana Santa in March or April).

Wet Season (May–November): Costa Rica experiences higher humidity, frequent rain showers, and lush green landscapes, especially from September to October, when rainfall peaks. Despite this, it’s a great time for budget travelers, as hotel prices drop significantly, and there are fewer tourists. The Caribbean coast remains drier during this period, and July often sees a brief break in the rains (Veranillo de San Juan).
