Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Siem Reap largely depends on your preferences for weather, budget, events and crowd levels. Also, it depends on your personal preferences and what you want to experience during your trip. Here's a breakdown of the different seasons:

Dry Season (November–April): This is the best time to visit Siem Reap, with cooler temperatures, clear skies, and little rainfall, making it ideal for exploring Angkor Wat, visiting floating villages, and enjoying outdoor markets. However, this is also peak tourist season, with crowded temples, busy streets, and higher hotel prices, especially from December to February.

Hot Season (March–May): Siem Reap becomes extremely hot and dry, with temperatures often exceeding 35°C (95°F). While it's still a good time for temple visits early in the morning, the heat can make sightseeing uncomfortable. Tourist numbers drop slightly, and hotel prices become more affordable.

Wet Season (June–October): The wet season brings higher humidity, frequent rain showers, and lush green landscapes, making it a great time for photography and fewer crowds. Rain usually comes in short bursts, allowing for sightseeing between showers. This is the cheapest time to visit, with lower hotel rates and fewer tourists, except during national holidays like Pchum Ben in September–October when domestic travel increases.
